Appendix 2: Criteria for Environmental Funding Stream
Merit Based Allocation with Minimum
Merit based allocation with a minimum means:

Applicants that apply for Environmental Funding Stream Basic and meet basic application
criteria, set out below, will receive $15,000.
d)
Applicants that apply for Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced in an amount exceeding
$15,000 will be awarded funds based on a merit based allocation process, described below.
For example, two or more municipalities intend to work co-operatively only one of the
municipalities will be required to submit an application (Applicant), naming all other
municipalities as a Participating Municipality. The Applicant will enter into the grant
agreement and receive all of the funding for the Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced.
The Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced is a competitive process. Applications for
Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced will be reviewed evaluated and ranked based on
the criteria set out below on a merit based evaluation process completed by a joint
producer/government group assembled by ARD (Committee). Based on available funding,
the highest ranked proposals will be recommended to the Minister for approval and
allocation of Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced funds.
Applicants, including all named Participating Municipalities in an Application for
Environmental Funding Stream Enhanced that do not receive Environmental Funding
Stream Enhanced funding will be permitted to make an application for Environmental
Funding Stream Basic.
CRITERIA TO RECEIVE ENVIRONMENTAL FUNDING STREAM BASIC
1.
Program application was received by the deadline.
2.
The Schedule A contains a goal related to extension towards environmental outcomes with a
focus on watershed enhancement to mitigate agriculture’s impact. Extension for other agri-
environmental issues, such as agricultural plastics or air quality related to agriculture, will be
considered.
CRITERIA TO RECEIVE ENVIRONMENTAL FUNDING STREAM ENHANCED
Mandatory Requirement:
1.
Must align with Program Objective: Support ASBs in the development and delivery of
environmental extension programming to increase awareness, understanding and
implementation of environmental agricultural practices with an emphasis on improving
watershed health.
If the application does not meet the mandatory requirement then it will not be
reviewed by the “Committee”.
